Missing Blogging

Dear friends,

Eight days ago, my dear Mum suffered a stroke, an awful shock.  My boys (and Eldest Son’s Lovely Girlfriend) were home with us for the weekend to celebrate a belated Mother’s Day, hubby’s birthday and our tenth wedding anniversary which was on Friday, the 18th March.

Just as we sat down to lunch before taking the boys to the station for their train journey back home, I took a call from a friend of Mum’s who, thank goodness, was with her at church, when it happened.

Mum recently celebrated her 80th birthday.  Active, vibrant, beautiful, classy, she celebrated with vim and vigour.  I had posts planned (among others) to share some of our recent milestone family celebrations and a few pics, but that’s all on hold now.

Spring Tete-A-Tete's for Mum

Spring Tete-A-Tete’s for Mum

Since then, with much relief, I’m so glad to let you know that Mum is recovering. We are already looking to her return home and her after-care.

But understandably, there will be a lot to consider as I divert my time to help look after her (while also holding down the fort at home), which means my days are filled in ways that make it impossible for me to blog at all for the time being.

I’m sorry I didn’t get this message out earlier, I just haven’t had the chance, but I did want to let you know why I’ve been absent from blogging.  Thank you to those who have left comments on my last couple of posts,  which I’ll reply to as soon as I can.

Thank you again also to those who already know via Facebook and who’ve been in touch in other ways (and again, sorry for my slow responses…) with lovely kind and concerned messages sending love, thoughts and prayers.

Please know that Mum is getting a little better and stronger each day, not always easy, up and down, but all the while retaining her wonderful sense of humour.  We expect a full recovery and for that, we are eternally grateful.

I miss you, I hope to see you soon.

Love Sherri x

  13. I rarely go to FB – and keep saying I must look in at least daily – and here is another reason why! I popped in this morning and saw your post concerning your mum and was relieved to see a blog post too – this is surely good news I thought. And yes, your mum is doing better. Strokes are awful things and require so much from all involved – not least the patient. I do hope the early intervention means your mum can make a full recovery and soon life will return to ‘normal’ for you. I’m keeping you close to my heart Sherri, my loving thoughts are sent to your dear mama and all your family. I surround you with love and hope and picture you all well and happy.

Until I get going here, it will be a while, I’ll catch up with you over on FB, but meahwhile, I wish you a blessed and Happy Easter, sending you love and hugs with a grateful heart… ❤ xo

I’m innundated with ‘stuff’, trying to keep things ticking over here at the Summerhouse is about all I can manage online at the moment, my social media is falling apart at the seams. But then I also need to keep plugging away at my memoir, and that has been one heck of a challenge too. You don’t happen to know of a little cottage by the sea where I could ensconce myself for say one month and do nothing but write my book, make endless cups of tea and walk by the sea inbetween do you? You know, just like in the movies…

If I knew of such a place I should surely be blogging there, after lobbing my mobile into the sea to start with. No rush with coming over to visit, you have enough on and the posts won’t run away so all is good. I gave p on the social media ages ago, I’m not very good at remembering to tweet so all that goes on Facebook and Twitter are the automatic posts and why I have a LinkedIn and Google+ account I do not know!

I’m starting a workshop next week in London to finish my memoir and because of having to step away from everything and only just getting back on track – barely – it’s been a struggle I admit. I hope to get a blog post later this week to update everyone but I’ve had to make my memoir my priority with the time I’ve had to work on it. Anyway, enough of all that.
