It’s Too Hot Even For My Cats…& That’s Hot!

You know it’s too hot here when even my two cats can’t take the heat!

Normally Maisy, my 11-year-old grey & white tabby (she of the barometer ears which go blue when it is cold and red when it is warm) laps up the sun and can’t get enough of it.  But today, it is a sweltering 27 celsius in the UK.  That’s almost  81 Farenheit (I googled it, to be sure).

‘Not that hot!’ some of you may be saying!  Well, it might not seem so but to us it is blisteringly hot because we just aren’t used to it here!  I am actually having to use a hose pipe to water my precious garden.  That’s serious!

What we have been used to, you see, are storms and floods and very unsummer-like weather indeed the past several years.  Now we are being told that we are in for a heat wave!  Well, we shall see.

Meanwhile, as I was saying, my cats aren’t quite sure what to make of it all.

So Maisy takes to being inside to cool off.

Eddie, on the other hand, is staying outside but takes shelter from the sun beneath a chair in the back garden.

As for me, I’m going outside now to have a little bask in the sun.  Nothing like seizing the moment.

Summer is well and truly here…Let’s enjoy it while we can 🙂

  1. Your cats are beautiful,Sherri. Thanks for a very uplifting post. About the weather — I would be HAPPY to have it be as LOW as 81 degrees. We are in the mid to upper 90s here this week.

That’s what *I* was thinking! We are, too! But I remember the rare “hot” days in London. It’s true–no one’s used to it . . .

Ha, so you know Jenn, it can get really hot over here and yes, we definitely aren’t used to it!! It’s strange that 80 degrees over here feels as hot as the 90s to me when I lived in California. Perhaps because it is just more humid over here? Thanks so much for your comment 🙂 Oh, and I was outside ‘basking’ but it just got way too hot!!!!!

Yeah–NEW England is humid, too. Yesterday was mid-nineties and every time I walked outside of the house, I would immediately start perspiring. It was kind of disgusting. I could probably handle “basking” if it were 81, though. Low 80’s is my idea of perfection. 🙂

Ahh, thanks so much Beverly, so glad you found this post so uplifting! My cats, of course, are oblivious 🙂 I can just imagine, I know that 81 must sound positively cool to you! Hopefully you have cooling? We don’t, but one thing we do have is a ceiling fan in the bedroom, thank goodness! Still, it is just sooooo hot…. 🙂

Hi Tholos, thank you so much! I’m very glad that you commented here as I have been unable to leave comment on your blog due to this spam issue I am having, as are many others by the looks of things! (If you check your spam folder, I bet it’s in there, so if you could approve it as ‘not spam’ and then approve it I will be able to comment again, so sorry for the hassle). I didn’t want you to think that I have been ignoring you, and I did very much want to thank you for visiting my blog and liking my posts! I hope you will visit again 🙂
